Onyx
Magazine, on behalf of LBS Foundation Incorporated, a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization, celebrates its eighth annual Onyx
Awards. We invite you and your corporation to become a corporate
sponsor to what has become Florida's signature African American
awards celebration of "Black Trailblazers" and corporations that
promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
Proceeds from this event will benefit sickle cell disease and
education initiatives. Moreover, in the wake of the recent
earthquake devastation of Haiti, portions of the proceeds from
this year’s event will be forwarded to The Harris Rosen
Foundation in support of the Haitian Relief Effort.
In 2009,
through a generous donation
provided by the LBS
Foundation Incorporated, the
Tri- County Sickle Cell
Disease Association, Inc.
was able to open its doors
to a new outreach resource
center. This office serves
clients in Orange, Seminole
and Osceola counties. In
2009, as well as previous
years, funding has been
provided to the Jacksonville
-Sickle Cell Disease
Association, Inc. to assist
in its mission to serve the
clients of Duval and
surrounding counties. In the
Space Coast Area, we support the Dr. J.C.
Phillips Education Center
for Math and Science.
Sickle Cell is an inherited blood disorder that turns normal
round blood cells into misshaped cells that appear as sickles or
crescent moons. Although research continues to get closer to an
answer regarding a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia, to date, none
exists. The disease primarily affects people of color, to include the
African Americans, Hispanic and Asian populations. Many
families find themselves incapable of providing a normal life of
extra curricular activities for their children.
Through your support, we can
continue to make a
difference.
